Okay so it’s late August, which means your group chat is currently three unanswered messages deep on “what are we doing for Labor Day?” and nobody has committed to anything.

Labor Day Luau runs Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7 at Jellystone Park™ West Georgia, and the whole park turns into a tiki paradise for four days. Steel drums. Actual hula lessons. A luau pool party. It’s summer’s last big swing and we are not going quietly.

Also, real talk: this is a holiday weekend with a two-night minimum, and holiday weekends at a family campground 40 minutes from Atlanta do not sit around waiting for you to decide. Read fast, book faster.

Here’s what the weekend actually looks like

Friday night, the steel drums start. Jeff is bringing the steel drum, the sun is going down, and somebody’s kid is already dancing without a shred of self-consciousness. Honestly, iconic behavior. Take notes.

Saturday, you learn to hula. For real. Polynesian entertainers are coming out to teach it, which means you are going to attempt a hula in front of your children and they are going to have footage of it forever. This is the trade. This is parenting.

The luau pool party. Georgia in early September is still very much summer, and our pools do not know it’s almost fall. Zero-entry pool, four-story slides, the splash pad with the giant tipping bucket that soaks everyone within a ten foot radius every single time and somehow surprises everyone every single time.

Sand art, fruity snacks, tiki everything. The kind of low-effort, high-joy stuff that keeps small humans happy while you sit down for eleven consecutive minutes.

The glow-in-the-dark train ride. This one’s ticketed and separate, and it’s the thing people talk about after. Picture the whole train lit up moving through a dark campground with a bunch of glowing kids losing it. Grab tickets at the Ranger Station when you check in, because there are only so many seats and they go.

Why Bremen is the easy yes

Jellystone Park™ West Georgia is at 106 King St. in Bremen, right in Haralson County, roughly 40 miles west of Atlanta straight down I-20. That’s the whole pitch on logistics.

If you’re coming from Carrollton, Villa Rica, Douglasville, or anywhere on the west side of the metro, you’re barely driving. If you’re in Atlanta proper, you’re out the door and there before the “are we there yet” phase fully develops. Tallapoosa and the Alabama state line are just a few exits further west, so our east Alabama people, you’re covered too.

No airport. No four hour slog to the mountains with everyone melting down at hour three. Just a short hop west and you’re in it.

Where you actually sleep

This is the part that separates a good weekend from a rough one, so let’s be specific.

Every cabin here is heated, has its own private bathroom, and comes with a full kitchen. Fridge, four-burner stove with an oven, microwave, plus the cookware and dishes. And the linens are already on the beds. You are not renting sheets. You are not packing a colander.

You bring groceries and clothes. That’s genuinely it.

There are eleven cabin styles sleeping anywhere from two to eight, including themed Yogi Bear™, Boo Boo™, Cindy Bear™, and Ranger Smith™ cabins, plus an ADA accessible option. And then there’s the covered wagon, which sleeps four, looks like something out of 1875, and has heat and its own bathroom. Nobody expects the wagon to be that nice. It is.

Rolling in your own rig? We’ve got 100 foot pull-thrus, concrete pad patio sites, standard pull-thrus, and back-ins for smaller rigs, all full hookup with 30/50 amp. Tent people, you’ve got electric and water.

About that two-night minimum

Every site and cabin here has a two-night minimum, which for a four-day holiday weekend is not exactly a hardship. But it does mean the booking math is simple: pick your nights, grab them, done.

What we’d actually recommend is not waiting until Wednesday. Labor Day is the last big weekend before the whole park flips to Halloween mode, and it’s the one everybody remembers to book at the same time. You know how this goes.
